Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about ordering, picking up, and savoring your artisan sourdough in Frederick, Maryland.

How do Sunday drops work?

Ordering opens every Monday* at 8:00 am EST and closes on the following Thursday at 8:00 pm EST to allow loaves a 48-hour cold proof before baking fresh on Sunday mornings.  Pick up time will be 12 noon on Sundays.

*Unless otherwise noted (personal obligations, family events, etc)

Where do I pick up my bread?

Local pickup takes place right here in Adamstown, Maryland. Exact pickup address details are sent in your confirmation email after ordering.

Why is there a limit of 15 loaves?

Knead That is a handcrafted, small-batch cottage bakery. Limiting drops to 15 loaves ensures every single loaf receives the dedicated attention, long fermentation, and hearth baking it deserves.  Also, we've got limited oven space! :)

How should I store my sourdough?

Keep sliced bread cut-side down on a wooden board for the first day, or store in a paper bag or bread box at room temperature. Check our Bread Care page for detailed freezing and reheating tips.

What ingredients do you use?

Our loaves of sourdough are made with King Arthur's bread flour, water, iodized salt, and our mature sourdough starter culture. No commercial yeast, preservatives, or artificial additives.

Can I request custom flavors or special events?

We love experimenting with specialty inclusions. Feel free to contact us by email to ask about custom bakes or larger weekend orders.  Because sourdough goodies have a long fermentation time, please reach out at least one month in advance for planning.
